MENA Film Festival : The voice of filmmakers from the MENA/SWANA community
One mission
Every year, Vancouver hosts a multitude of film festivals that reflect a great diversity of styles and geographical origins: from local and international productions, from modest projects to big-budget films. Together, these festivals illustrate the panorama of Vancouver’s cultural life. However, despite solid economic and cultural roots, one community remains largely absent from this local film scene: those from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), also known as Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA).
The MENA Film Festival is dedicated to presenting and celebrating cinema and arts from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Their primary objective is to create an inclusive space where diverse voices and narratives from these regions can be explored and appreciated.
Did you know that…
The MENA Film Festival is not limited to film screenings, but also includes artistic performances, workshops, and discussions, thus offering a multidisciplinary platform to explore the cultural and artistic diversity of the Middle East and North Africa.
A rich commitment
By sharing diverse perspectives that go beyond the stereotypes often associated with this region, the MENA Film Festival offers an inclusive platform where these creators, particularly those early in their careers, can express their experiences and enrich Canada’s multicultural identity through cinema.
With MENA Film Festival, the passion for cinema becomes more diverse!
