1. Make sure to follow Google Ad Grants’ criteria

First of all, your nonprofit must have a valid nonprofit status in your country. There are, however, a few exceptions. The following organizations are NOT eligible for Google Ad Grants:

  • Governmental organizations
  • Hospitals and healthcare organizations
  • Schools, educational establishments or universities

You must also have a functional website containing basic information about your non-profit organization. A content-rich website will help you get the best results!

2. Be validated by TechSoup

Now that you’ve checked your eligibility for Google Ad Grants, you need to be validated with TechSoup. Go to the TechSoup registration page and select your preferred country and language.

Next, you’ll need to create your account and accept TechSoup’s terms of use and privacy policy.

Finally, just wait up to 30 days to be verified and receive your TechSoup validation token.

3. Register to Google for Associations

Have you received your validation token? Great! You can now subscribe to Google for Associations.

You will need:

  • An administrator e-mail address and other contact information
  • Your TechSoup validation token

Once your Google Account for Associations has been created, Google will take a few days to review your request. You will then receive an e-mail once your application has been approved.

4. Fill in your Google Ad Grant request

First of all, you need to log in to your Google Account for Associations and click on “Activate” under Google Ad Grants, in the ‘Products’ category.

Please note that you should never be asked to provide financial information.

Next, you’ll need to fill in an eligibility form. Google wants to make sure that your non-profit organization meets all the eligibility criteria.

After completing this form, return to your Google Account for Associations and click “Activate” again under Google Ad Grants. Don’t forget to check the box to confirm that you have completed the eligibility form.

Your account is under review! Google usually takes up to three days to review your account. Be patient, you’re on the verge of $10,000 (US) a month!

5. Log in to your Google Ad Grant account

In order to access your account, you will have to go through 2 final steps:

  1. Accept the invitation to access your Google Ad Grant account in the e-mail from Google.
  2. Accept the invitation to the payment profile received in another e-mail from Google as well.

Congratulations, you now have access to your Google Ad Grant account!

Once you’ve completed these steps, it’s time to write your first ad! Be creative and try to use calls to action to entice users to click on your ad.
