My Ad Grant application has been approved, but I can’t access my Google Ad Grant account.

Check that Grant is active

First, you need to check that your account is active, as its status may change despite a previously “approved” status.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Go to

https://www.google.com/intl/fr/nonprofits/

Step 2: Sign in to your Google Account for Associations

Step 3: Check the status, it should be “approved”.

4th stage : Take note of your customer ID (CID) and the list of account administrators. You’ll need them for the next steps.

Good to know: The CID is a special number used to identify your Google Ads account and connect it to other Google tools such as Google Analytics. It’s important to keep this number handy for contacting Google Ad Grant support. Share it only with people you trust, as it may give access to private information.

Step 5: There are 3 possible scenarios:

  • “Waiting”, normally it takes x time, if it’s been a long time you can relaunch them via this form. As you can see, you’ll have to be patient.
  • “Refused” click here for solution
  • “You can then proceed to the next step.

Log in to your Google Ad Grants account

Now that you have confirmation that your grant status has been approved, we’ll take you step-by-step through the process of logging into your Google Ad Grants account. First of all, it’s important to understand the distinction between an Ad Grants account and a Google Ads account to avoid any confusion. Visually similar, they are both accessible via the same link(https://ads.google.com/). Special care must be taken not to select the Ad Grants account by mistake. Ad Grants accounts are distinguished by specific functionalities, tailored menus and the absence of billing information, identifiable by the exclusive use of the US dollar as currency. This is what should appear in your billing information:

It is important to note that only the Ad Grant team can create an Ad Grants account; any attempt to create an account on your own will result in the creation of a paid account, which will incur advertising fees. If you have any doubts,

Step 1: Log in to Google Ads via
this link
You don’t need to create an account. From the Google Account associated with your Ad Grants account, simply click on “Sign in”. If you don’t succeed, don’t create an account and test other Google accounts, especially those of other account administrators. If you still can’t access it,
go here
.

Attention! The “Sign in to
Ad Grants open_in_new
“This is NOT a link to an Ad Grants account. It’s only a link to the “Google Ads” access page.

Step 2: Take your CID that you previously noted from Google for Associations and compare it according to the following 3 scenarios:

  1. A single CID is associated and you are automatically connected to your Google Ad Grant account. Just make sure it’s the same CID as the one you wrote down.
  2. Several CIDs can be attached to the same account, in which case a list appears. Select the account associated with the CID you have made a note of.
  3. If you can’t find the CID you’ve noted, either directly connected or in the list displayed, please contact us for assistance.

If the CID is identical: Bravo! You are in your Ad Grants account! Once you have access,

If you do not see your account

If your account does not appear after logging in, this may indicate that although your grant request has been approved, you have not yet activated the grantThis is necessary to finalize account creation. Another possibility is that the Google account you are logged into when you try to log into your Google Ad Grants account is the wrong Google account (must be one of the accounts with administrator access in Google for associations).

To remedy this, here’s what to do, when your request is acceptedyou will receive two emails:

  1. To create a Google Ads account,
  2. For billing information.

To find them, search for “Google Ad Grants Team” in your e-mail, and it will list all e-mails from the Google Ad Grants support team ([email protected]).

One of these e-mails explains the process. Here’s a reminder:

Step 1: Accept the invitation to create a new Google Ads account, sent to your e-mail address. You are the administrator of this account and can use it to set up and run your organization’s campaigns.

Step 2: Following step 1, you will receive a second invitation e-mail. Accept this email invitation to the Google Payments billing profile, sent to your email address. This step is necessary to access the account, but you will not be charged as a non-profit organization.

Be careful! This step is often overlooked because it can lead to the question “Why accept a billing profile when my account is free?” and is often associated with spam. In some cases, the e-mail arrives in the junk folder. It’s very important not to forget this step, as without it the grant won’t be activated.

Step 3: Reconnect to your new Google Ad Grants account, using your email, and follow the instructions to accept the Google Ads terms and conditions.

If these links are no longer valid, you can request new ones. If you don’t know how,

If this still doesn’t work, it may be that accesses have been sent to an administrator who has been removed from the list. Unfortunately, Google Ad Grants does not transfer access automatically if the master administrator has been removed. Also, you are not necessarily the administrator of the Google Ad Grants account, even if you are one of the administrators of the Google for Nonprofits account. If you find yourself in one of these situations, the next step should help.

The list of administrators can be accessed from the “Access and security” tab in the Google Ads menu:

Test the procedure with the other administrators of the Google for Nonprofits account

Sometimes a large number of people come and go within the organization, and you can lose track of who has what access. If you have not received confirmation emails to accept the grant and billing profile, they may have been sent to another account administrator.

Here’s how to identify it:

Step 1: Log in to your Google Account for Associations and access the list of account administrators. From here you can face two situations:

  • The administrator is deleted, but access is not transferred to another administrator. If so, go here.
  • Access was granted, but not accepted. Mails can often be found in spam folders or simply inadvertently deleted. If you can’t find them, click here.

Step 2.1: Try to connect to Google Ad Grants from each account in the list.

Please note:

  • At all times, it is important not to create new accounts, as this one will be a paying account and not linked to the grant. Only Google creates the account and gives you access to it.
  • It is essential that the CID of the Google Ad Grant account to which you are connecting coincides with the CID displayed in your Google for Nonprofits account.

Step 2.2: If none of them work, ask everyone on the list to see if they’ve received the invitation e-mails.

As a last resort, if none of the administrators received these e-mails or if the person who may have received them is no longer with the organization you can submit an account recovery request to Google.

Step 2: Fill in the form with the following information:

  • Check “I know my 10-digit customer number” – this is your Google CID for associations.
  • Fill in the fields relating to you and your means of contact.

Please note: Make sure that the e-mail address you use is already in the administrators’ section of the Google account for Associations.

  • In the “Association ID or EIN” field, enter the nonprofit’s business number, which was supplied to Techsoup at the time. It’s also the number used by the government.
  • Copy and paste the link to your website into the appropriate field.
  • In the “Please add any other useful information regarding this request” section copy and paste this, changing the text in bold and square brackets to the information shown “Hello, none of the Google administrators for the Associations of [insérer le nom de l’organisation comme mentionné sur le compte pour les Associations] has access to our Ad Grants account [inscrire CID ici].
